We have been training with Allan for over three years, and the experience has been transformative on several levels. From our first session, Allan has been professional, motivating, and incredibly knowledgeable about strength training and nutrition. What is also notable is the care he takes with us. Every session begins with a “check-in” where Allan inquiries about how our bodies are feeling. He takes note of ailments and develops a work plan for that day based on what he assesses. What sets Allan apart from others is his personalized approach to fitness.

He takes the time to understand our goals, assess our fitness levels, and create a tailored program that has helped us achieve significant results. Each workout is challenging yet enjoyable and the personal relationship we have built with Sherwin is above all what we value most. He has become a friend and a family member to us. His positive attitude and constant encouragement have kept us motivated, even on the toughest days when we are struggling and falling behind. We’ve seen tremendous improvements in our strength, stamina, and overall health. Moreover, Allan has educated us on proper nutrition, which is now becoming the next frontier for us since we’ve built a tremendous base for strength. We highly recommend Allan to anyone looking to improve their fitness and well-being.

Here is what I also say:

I’m a golfer and I also was not in the best of health when I started my workouts with Sherwin. I was actually unable to stand up from sitting down without considerable effort and assistance.

Three measurable results have been experienced through Sherwin’s work plans:

1) I can stand up, unassisted from sitting down and also get up off the ground without unusual effort.
2) I hit a golf ball 285 yards off the tee. Before our workouts, I couldn’t only hit the ball 225 off the tee.
3) At my most recent annual physical (after 2.5 years working with Sherwin) my doctor told me my numbers from my blood tests were better than hers. She is a 37 year old woman who values her health as a doctor. I am a 54 year old man who had not previously taken great care of my health

Many years ago, I had the good fortune of meeting Allan at the WOW workout center. I signed up for training and the first trainer they assigned me to was horrible. He did not take into consideration my age and spent most of his time looking at his cell phone. I did complain and they assigned me to Allan. I had not, at that time, done any real exercising and he took it upon himself, because of that, he started me carefully and consistently with an exercise program that would make me stronger and be able to develop a program that would ensure success.

He has always said to me, “if you fall, I want you to be able to get up”. I’m still able to get up! Now all these years later, I continue with Allan as my trainer, I walk approximately 8-10 miles a week and see Allan 2x a week for strength training. Allan is firm to ensure that I get the maximum out of each training session. He doesn’t baby me anymore. Allan really has been a Godsend for me, if I didn’t have the consistency of training with Allan, I know each day I would say “I’ll do it tomorrow.” I personally need his consistency and probably most importantly, his expertise and knowledge of his practices in getting results and of course safety issues to prevent any injuries. I would recommend Allan to anyone who is looking for results, his wealth of knowledge in exercise, nutrition and diet.

About 13 years ago I became a personal fitness trainer. To become a trainer, I had to go through several months of training on human anatomy and nutrition to become a certified fitness trainer. The training on anatomy was correct, but the training on nutrition, as I have come to learn, was wrong. It assumed a calorie is a calorie. (As in, a calorie from an egg was the same as a calorie from a donut.) It took my mother dying from type two diabetes for me to look at health in a different way. I couldn’t figure out why my mother couldn’t lose weight.

As a matter of fact, I was having a hard time controlling my own weight. That was because I was looking at weight loss from the “calorie is a calorie” angle. I’ve begun a different path when it comes to the nutritional side of controlling weight. One where I’m focusing on controlling insulin levels instead of the old mantra of “A calorie is a calorie and eat less and workout more.” You see, if we can control our insulin levels, we can control our weight, if we control insulin, we control type two diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease etc. Since focusing on controlling my insulin level (and the insulin levels of my clients) instead of how many calories I consume each day, I’ve noticed real improvement in controlling weight loss that is not only realistic but sustainable. As a function of that learning, personally, I have lost 30 pounds in eleven months and have maintained that weight loss ever since. The journey to a healthier lifestyle is not easy, but it is more than worth it.
